Turkish Kofte (Meatballs)

If you've ever been to Turkey, you must have come across many types of kofte, the Turkish meatballs. I wondered how many there were. Well, according to a research done by Pinar Et, a well know Turkish brand, there are 291 different kinds! I don't think i can list more than 20, but now that I have this information, I will for sure put an effort to try as many as I can.

In the meantime, my mom's meatballs will do just fine to satisfy my kofte cravings.

INGREDIENTS
  •  500 gr ground beef
  • 1 small onion (grated)
  • 1 glass/cup/250gr bread crumbs (you can put less if you like)
  • 4-5 sprigs fresh parsley leaves (chopped)
  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 2.5 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste

-  Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and make sure you use your hands!

-  Knead like a dough for 10-15 minutes

- Take medium size pieces and shape them as you like i.e round, oval, etc.

- You can either grill or fry the koftes
